Sherpa's Product Information Management System is a closed-loopapplication based on Sherpa/DMS, an object-oriented set of facilitiesdesigned specifically for addressing product information managementrequirements. Sherpa DMS captures an enterprise's product development,release, and change management rules.Sherpa/PIMS works in a heterogeneous client-server environment. Itprovides applications for concurrent engineering, configurationmanagement, document management, and engineering change control. Whenimplemented, an organization's functions can freely share informationthrough access to a common database of product information -- includingCAD files, bills of material, and product specifications, NC tapes, testprograms, and work instructions. It can also integrate to anorganization's key business systems for an enterprise-level solution.
